Standby servers can be configured in the system, in preparation for adding them to an
MDM cluster.
Before you begin
Ensure that you know the name of the node that you want to add as a standby to the
MDM cluster.
About this task
The MDM cluster can only be extended by promoting existing standby servers already
defined in the system. Standby servers for the MDM cluster can only be defined after
system deployment. To add standby servers to the cluster, perform the following
steps.
Procedure
1. Using the Hardware view, find a server that does not currently have an MDM
role. In the Property Sheet, Node Properties section, find a node where the
VxFlex OS Role is "None MDM".
2. In the Hardware view, in the Nodes list on the left side, right-click the required
node, and select Add as Standby.
The Add Standby Node window is displayed.
3. In the Standby Name box, type a name for the standby.
4. From the Role list, select one of the following:
Option
MDM
TieBreaker
5. Click OK.
Results
The MDM/Tie Breaker package is installed on the node, and the standby is added to
the MDM cluster. To change a standby server's status to either MDM or Tie Breaker,
follow the instructions in
A server can be gracefully removed from the MDM cluster if the server is in standby
