Extending an MDM cluster

Procedure
1. In the Hardware view, click the Cluster menu, and select Remove Standbys.
The Remove Standby window is displayed.
2. Select the standbys that you want to remove, and click OK.
Results
The selected standby servers are removed from the MDM cluster, and the MDM
packages are removed from those servers.
A 3-node cluster can be enlarged to a 5-node cluster, to provide more protection for
the MDM cluster.
Before you begin
Ensure that a standby MDM and a standby Tie Breaker are already defined in the
MDM cluster. For information about adding standby servers, see
the MDM cluster
on page 136.
About this task
A 5-node cluster provides better high availability than a 3-node cluster, and therefore
better protection in fault scenarios. Standby servers can be added to a 3-node cluster
at any time, using the VxFlex OS GUI.
Procedure
1. In the Hardware view, click the Cluster menu, and select Extend to 5 Node
Cluster Mode.
