    PREFACE Thank you very much for purchasing our N8142-36F EcoPowerGateway. The N8142-36F EcoPowerGateway can supply DC power of up to 1700 watts with 4 ports. Consolidating power supplies to servers in rack realizes the system configuration of higher density. In addition, optional power units can be additionally installed to meet with your power requirements (up to four power units including standard power units).

Use of the EcoPowerGateway ignoring the notes will cause malfunctions or failures of the EcoPowerGateway. EcoPowerGateway Mount the EcoPowerGateway on a rack which can accept the EcoPowerGateway. The socket-outlet shall be installed near the EcoPowerGateway and shall be easily accessible.

For stable operation of the EcoPowerGateway, NEC recommends you replace these components on a regular basis. Consult with your service representative for replacement or the product lives.

    2-4 General Description Rear View Slot for power supply unit Install the power supply unit that supplies DC power to the Module Enclosure. The last digit indicates installation order. Slots 1 and 2 contain factory-installed power units. Slots 3 and 4 are equipped with blank covers. Install the separately priced N8181-76F power units into these slots to make the maximum configuration with four power supply units.
  • Page 43 General Description 2-5 UID (Unit ID) lamp (blue) This lamp lights when the UID switch is pressed. When the EcoPowerGateway receives a software command, this lamp blinks. (The same lamp is located on the front side. They work together.) UID (Unit ID) switch Press this switch to turn on or off the UID (Unit ID) lamp.
  • Page 44 2-6 General Description Number of Required Power Units The number of power units to be installed depends on the total power consumption for the devices connected to each DC output port. See the table below. IMPORTANT: Install the power units of same model. If the power units of different model are installed, the system will fail to operate correctly.

    The UID lamp goes on when the UID switch is pressed, and it blinks when the command is received from the management software such as NEC ESMPRO Manager.

    General Description 2-15 Starting Maintenance Mode The maintenance card installed in the EcoPowerGateway monitors the system status (e.g., thermal sensor and load to power units). Start the maintenance mode only when you need to update the firmware of maintenance card, change configuration information of the server, or provide settings for the management LAN.

Two slots for installing additional power unit are located on the rear side of the EcoPowerGateway. When you install the EcoPowerGateway for the first time or configure the management LAN, thoroughly read this chapter for better understanding and correct setups. SYSTEM BIOS ~ SETUP ~ The SETUP utility is provided to make basic configuration for the maintenance card of EcoPowerGateway.

The Off-line Maintenance Utility is an OS-independent maintenance program.
