    Basic Guide Moving the Printer • Moving the printer requires at least three people, holding it on both sides and from behind. Be careful to avoid back strain and other injuries. Caution • When moving the printer, firmly grasp the Carrying Handles under each side and in back. The printer may be unsteady if you hold it at other positions, which poses a risk of injury from dropping the printer.

  • Page 34 Basic Guide Precautions when handling ink tanks Take the following precautions when handling ink tanks. • For safety, keep ink tanks out of the reach of children. • If ink is accidentally ingested, contact a physician immediately. Caution • There may be ink around the ink supply section of ink tanks you removed. Handle ink tanks carefully during replacement.

Agitate the ink in the Ink Tank by slowly rotating the Ink Tank upside-down and right side up repeatedly. • After installing an ink tank, do not remove and shake it. Be careful not to touch these surfaces when removing the caps. Important • The Printhead contains ink to protect the nozzles. We recommend removing Protective Part (b) as you hold it over the Printhead package or safely out of the way to avoid spilling ink and staining your clothes or the surrounding area.

  • Page 79: Printer Relocation Preparing To Transfer The Printer

    • Avoid tilting the printer excessively during transit. This may cause ink in the printer to leak and cause stains. If it is necessary to tilt the printer in transit, contact your Canon dealer. Important • Depending on the state of the printer, part replacement may be necessary when preparing to transfer the printer (that is, when you execute the printer menu item to prepare for transfer).
  • Page 80 • If consumables must be replaced, the message Consumables must be replaced. Call for service. is shown on the Display Screen and preparation is not possible. If this Important message is displayed, press the OK button and contact your Canon dealer for assistance. Remove the Ink Tank Open the Ink Tank Cover.

Tape down printer covers to secure them, in the reverse order of tape removal during installation. Repack the Roll Holder, Holder Stopper, and printer in shipping materials, and then package them in a shipping box.
  • Page 84 Basic Guide Install the printer Install the printer on a table or other flat surface. If you will use the printer on an optional Stand, assemble the Stand before mounting the printer on it, and then secure it with the Main Unit Securing Bolts.
