  • Page 5 Figure 2. Removing system cover Hold the system cover on both sides, and lift the cover away from the system. Hold the air shroud at both ends and lift the air shroud out of the system. NOTE: The air shroud for the dual processor system can be discarded. NOTE: If you have a dual processor 3UPI system, remove the two 3UPI cables from the system board and discard.
  • Page 6 Figure 3. Installing PEM power boards Hold the PEM vertically by using the PEM handle. Align the slots on the sides of the PEM with the standoffs on the sides of the system and lower the PEM into the standoffs. Figure 4.
  • Page 7 Hold the PEM handle and lower the PEM until it firmly seats in place. Place the heat sinks, processors, and processor brackets for installation on a static-safe work table. NOTE: Heat sinks, processors, processor brackets, and DIMMs are not part of the kit. They have to be ordered separately.
  • Page 8 Figure 6. Installing heat sink onto processor Remove the processor socket dust covers on the PEM. Align the pins on the heat sink to the guides on the PEM and then place the processor and heat sink module (PHM) on the processor socket.
  • Page 9 If applicable, move the NVMe extender cards from the system board to the appropriate expansion card riser slot per the Installation and Service Manual or System Information Label (SIL), and connect the new NVMe cables per requirement.   • Page 10 Figure 9. Removing expansion card riser blank Remove the protective covers on the expansion card riser connectors on the PEM. To install the expansion card riser, lift the release lever to an upward position. Figure 10. Installing expansion card riser Align the guide rail on the side of the expansion card riser with the slot on the side of the system and lower the expansion card riser into the system.
  • Page 11 Repeat the steps 20 to 24 to install the other expansion card riser. Install the air shroud for the quad processor configuration provided in the kit. Figure 11. Installing quad processor air shroud Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system and slide the system cover forward to close the system cover latch.
