Press <F2> immediately after you see the following message: <F2> = System Setup If your operating system begins to load before you press <F2>, allow the system to finish booting, and then restart your system and try again. Responding To Error Messages If an error message is displayed while the system is booting, make a note of the message.

Selecting Only Back USB Ports Ports On disables the front USB ports and selecting All Ports Off disables both front and back USB ports. By default, the User Accessible USB Ports option is set to All Ports On.

  • Page 18 System Security Screen Menu Item Description Intel(R) AES-NI The Intel(R) AES-NI option improves the speed of applications by performing encryption and decryption using the Advanced Encryption Standard Instruction Set and is set to Enabled by default. System Password Allows you to set the system password. This option is read-only if the password jumper is not installed in the system.

    Miscellaneous Settings Menu Item Description System Date Allows you to set the date on the system. System Time Allows you to set the time on the system. Asset Tag Displays the asset tag and allows you to modify it for security and tracking purposes.

If an incorrect system password is entered, the system displays a message and prompts you to re-enter your password.

Embedded System Management The Dell Lifecycle Controller provides advanced embedded systems management throughout the server’s lifecycle.     Reboot the system and, if your keyboard is functioning, enter the System Setup. Verify that all USB ports are enabled on the Integrated Devices screen, in the System Setup options. If your keyboard is not functioning, you can also use remote access. If the system is not accessible, reset the NVRAM_CLR jumper inside your system and restore the BIOS to the default settings.

    Using System Diagnostics If you experience a problem with your system, run the system diagnostics before contacting Dell for technical assistance. The purpose of running system diagnostics is to test your system hardware without requiring additional equipment or risking data loss. If you are unable to fix the problem yourself, service and support personnel can use the diagnostics results to help you solve the problem.

    System Messages System Error Messages System error messages appear on the monitor to notify you of a possible problem with the system. These messages refer to events recorded in the System Event Log (SEL). For information on the SEL and configuring system management settings, see the systems management software documentation.
