Replacing alternator belt
a The auto-tensioner is provided for the fan belt.
Thus, testing and adjustment of the belt is usu-
ally not necessary.
a Disconnect air conditioner compressor belt
before replacing the fan belt.

Stop the machine on a level ground and
lower the work equipment to the ground.

Open engine hood and remove fan belt cover
(1).
2.
Insert a wrench to the portion (A) (width across
flats T 12.7 mm) of the tensioner assembly (2),
and rotate it to the opposite to the winding-up
direction to decrease the fan belt (3) tension.

Make sure that the wrench is secured
at the portion (A) of the tensioner
assembly (2) before rotating it. (The
spring of the tensioner assembly (2) is
s t r o n g . I f t h e w r e n c h i s l o o s e l y
inserted, the wrench may accidentally
come off while being rotated and it is
extremely dangerous.)

After removing the fan belt (3), return
the tensioner assembly (2) slowly with
care.

Be careful not to get your fingers
caught between the pulley and fan belt
(3) during work.

Replace the fan belt (3).
