Rear 2.5-inch drive backplane and drive cage replacement
Use this information to remove and install rear 2.5-inch drive backplane and drive cage.

Remove the rear 2.5-inch drive cage

Use this information to remove the rear 2.5-inch 4-bay or 8-bay drive cage.

• Power off the server and disconnect all power cords for this task.

Procedure
Step 1.
Prepare your server.
a.
Remove the top cover. See "Remove the top cover" on page 376.
b.
Disconnect the cables of the rear drive backplane from the system board or RAID/HBA
adapter.
c.
Remove all the installed drives and fillers (if any) from the drive bays. See "Remove a hot-swap
drive" on page 226.
