Recovering pre-installed software Recovering pre-installed software Your computer hard disk has a hidden, protected area for backups. Contained within this area is a complete backup of the hard disk as it was shipped from the factory and a program called the Access IBM Predesktop Area. If you installed the IBM Rapid Restore Ultra program, the Access IBM Predesktop Area also contains additional IBM Rapid Restore Ultra backups that reflect the contents of the hard disk as it existed at various points in time.
Upgrading the hard disk drive Upgrading the hard disk drive You can increase the storage capacity of your computer by replacing the hard disk drive with one of greater capacity. You can purchase a new hard disk drive from your IBM authorized servicer or IBM marketing representative. Note: Replace the hard disk drive only if you upgrade it or have it repaired.
