Using Simple Network Management Protocol

NE2552E Application Guide for ENOS 8.4
Lenovo ENOS provides Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) version 1,
version 2, and version 3 support for access through any network management
software, such as IBM Director.
Note: SNMP is disabled by default. However, if community strings are already
configured on the switch, any software update will leave SNMP enabled.
To access the SNMP agent on the NE2552E, the read and write community strings
on the SNMP manager must be configured to match those on the switch.
The read and write community strings on the switch can be changed using the
following commands:
NE2552E(config)# snmp-server read-community <1‐32 characters>
NE2552E(config)# snmp-server write-community <1‐32 characters>
The SNMP manager can reach any of the IP interfaces on the switch.
For the SNMP manager to receive the SNMPv1 traps sent out by the SNMP agent
on the switch, configure the trap host on the switch with the following commands:
NE2552E(config)# snmp-server trap-source <trap source IP interface>
NE2552E(config)# snmp-server host <IPv4 address> <trap host community string>
