Preventing Electrostatic Damage
To prevent electrostatic damage (ESD) to electronic components, you must be sure that you are grounded
while handling electronic components. Components include, but are not limited to all switch modules.
Before you begin
The switch must be connected to the facility earth ground.
Step 1
Attach an ESD wristband to your arm and be sure that it touches your skin.
Step 2
Attach the alligator clip on the other end of the strap to the grounding cable for the switch.
Step 3
Verify that the grounding cable is attached to the facility earth ground.
Installing or Replacing a Supervisor Module
The switch can operate with one or two supervisor modules that are installed in the chassis.
When you remove the active supervisor, the switch automatically makes the other supervisor active. But, all
modules in the switch are reset because the switchover is stateless. If the switch has two installed supervisor
