Preventing Electrostatic Damage
To prevent electrostatic damage (ESD) to electronic components, which include but are not limited to switch
modules, that you handle, you must be sure that you are grounded while handling electronic components.
Before You Begin
The switch must be connected to the facility earth ground.
Step 1
Attach an ESD wristband to your arm and be sure that it touches your skin.
Step 2
Attach the alligator clip on the other end of the strap to the grounding cable for the switch or to the screws holding the
grounding cable to the switch.
Step 3
Verify that the grounding cable is attached to the facility earth ground.
