TCP/IP Network Settings (Windows)
Here is a summary of the procedures required to set the printer for use on a
TCP/IP network.
Install the network interface board and connect the
network cable.
Follow the instructions in the Setup Guide to install the network interface board and connect the
network cable. The standard network compatible printer does not require installation of the
network interface board (only the network interface cable must be connected).
Setting the Printer IP Address
Setting the IP address allows setting the printer protocol to enable communication between the
printer and the computer . You can use one of the methods below to set the protocol:
• NetSpot (Canon software application provided with the printer)
• ARP/PING command
• Printer operation panel
Setting TCP/IP Protocol for the Printer
This procedure selects TCP/IP for the printer protocol. You can use one of the methods below to
set the protocol from the computer:
• NetSpot
• Web Browser (Remote UI)
• FTP Client
Setting the Computer
This procedure is performed for each computer to be used for printing.
Steps 1, 2, and 3 should be performed by the network system administrator.
The following print applications can be used to print on a TCP/IP network: LPD,
FTP, RAW (Windows XP, Windows 2000), and IPP (Windows Me, Windows 98,
Windows 95, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
