Method A – Ensures that the device always has the latest version of
firmware installed. After a one-time setup by the service technician, the
machine automatically downloads and installs new firmware as it becomes
available. Further visits may not be necessary for firmware updates.
Method B – Enables the dealership to schedule a firmware download to
the machine via the UGW. This method also provides the option to install
the firmware either automatically (without a service technician on-site), or
manually by a service technician.
Method C – Provides a service technician with access to the latest
firmware while at the machine. A service technician also has the option to
schedule the installation at a later time. Although a site visit is required for
each firmware update, the service technician does not need to bring the
firmware to the site.
7. Remote Operator's Software Kit
The Remote Operator's Software Kit provides alternative access for
end-users with mobility or dexterity impairments. This software emulates
the device's control panel and hard keys on a computer screen, allowing
end-users to operate all system functions (copy, print, fax, scan, and send)
from a network-connected computer.
Service technicians and helpdesk personnel can use the Remote
Operator's Software Kit for remote management, troubleshooting, and
support. The Remote Operator's Software Kit can also provide access to
Service Mode. Additionally, it can be used to demonstrate device features
and functions to end-users.
Note: The procedure to enter Service Mode using the Remote Operator's
Software Kit should not be shown to the end-user.
