Firmware Upgrade
The imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C5700 Series devices supports firmware
downloads from the SST (Service Support Tool), USB memory stick and the
Content Delivery System. Refer to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C5700
Series Service Manual for details.
1. Service Support Tool
The Service Support Tool
interface between the PC and the copier. Refer to the SST User Manual.
The SST is available via Canon's
two main functions:
a. Flash Upgrade Function
The SST can upgrade the Flash Dual In-Line Memory Modules
(FDIMM) firmware, BootROM, DCON and RCON. The SST is also
capable of downloading to a HDD System, RUI (Remote User
Interface), Key, SDICT, TTS, Browser, ASR, WebDAV, Media, Help
and Language Files. Additionally, the SST can format a HDD and load
software.

b. Backup / Restore RAM Data
If replacing any PCBs with FDIMMs attached or initializing RAM, the
SST can be used to create a backup of the FDIMM RAM data and
saved to a PC. Once the PCB has been replaced, the RAM backup file
can be restored to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX Device and
factory settings restored.
2. Content Delivery System
The CDS is Canon's next generation system for the delivery and
installation of firmware to imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX Devices. Refer
to the
IMPORTANT
Content Delivery System only supports TLS V1.2 and earlier.
