If the node doesn't have a 1 GbE management port, the 1 GbE switch is used for the
iDRAC port and the leftmost 10\25 GbE port on the node is used for management and
will be connected to a 10/25 GbE switch.
Before you commence connecting the VxFlex OS system to the switches, ensure that
they are installed and configured. Do not connect the switches to your organization's
network until all installation and configuration activities are complete.
The following use cases are supported:
10 GbE
l
Each node has at least four 10 GbE ports. Two are used by VxFlex OS for internal
network communication. The other two ports are used for VMware high
availability, DRS, and application network traffic.
25/100 GbE
l
Each node has at least four 25 GbE ports. Two are used by VxFlex OS for
n
internal network communication. The other two ports are used for VMware
high availability, DRS, and application network traffic.
Each node has two 25 GbE ports, both used for VxFlex OS internal network
n
communication and application traffic.
The switches must have sufficient available network ports to accommodate the
following:
Data network 10/25/100 GbE switches:
Two 10/25/100 GbE ports per node, per switch
l
Management network switches:
One 1 GbE and one BMC (iDRAC) port per node.
l
If the node does not have a 1 GbE port, minimally a BMC (iDRAC) port is needed.
l
Refer to "IP Addresses" under Networking in the Architecture section, which explains
the required network configurations for VxFlex Ready Node.
vCenter 6.0, 6.5 and 6.7U1 are supported.
