Firmware patching
Graphical User Interface (GUI)
l
The VxFlex OS GUI enables you to perform standard configure and maintain
activities, as well as to monitor the storage system's health and performance. You
can use the VxFlex OS GUI to view the entire system, and then drill down to
different elements.
REST gateway
l
A REST API can be used to expose monitoring and provisioning via the REST
interface. The REST server is installed as part of the VxFlex OS AMS.
Automated Management Services (AMS)
l
A dedicated management server, residing outside the VxFlex Ready Node
converged system, that serves VxFlex OS GUI, CLI, and REST clients.
Many VxFlex OS activities can be performed in more than one management tool.
During the deployment or extend processes, hardware components are checked
automatically for the appropriate firmware versions. If mismatches are found, the
firmware is upgraded or downgraded to the correct version.
Firmware patching of hardware components primarily happens during an orchestrated
non-disruptive upgrade process. On ESXi-based systems, firmware patching is not a
service-affecting operation, because ESXi servers can operate in maintenance mode.
However, in bare-metal scenarios where SDCs are affected, system restarts may be
required. In such cases, user confirmation will be required.
Each VxFlex Ready Node version has its own set of supported drivers and firmware.
The following tables summarize the drivers and firmware supported by this version:

If firmware patching fails, contact Customer Support.
